FC Bayern Munich stands to significantly outearn last year’s Champions League winner, Paris Saint-Germain, should they clinch the title this season.
Their progression to the semi-finals on Wednesday evening, securing a 4-3 aggregate victory over Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, is expected to prevent any financial losses for the German record champions in the 2025/26 fiscal year. In fact, FC Bayern could see a modest profit from their Champions League success.
To date, UEFA has distributed €83.445 million in prize money to Bayern Munich in this Champions League season. Their participation in the competition yielded €18.62 million, with seven wins from eight group stage matches adding another €14.7 million. For their top-8 finish, which directly secured a spot in the Round of 16 without playoffs, and their second-place standing in the group, FCB received an additional €11.625 million from UEFA.
On top of this, a separate €11 million was awarded for reaching the Round of 16, the quarter-finals brought in another €12.5 million, and their confirmed spot in the CL semi-finals will see UEFA pay out €15 million.
Added to these total prize monies of €83.445 million for participation, performance, and victories, there is also a solidarity payment. This is based on clubs’ UEFA coefficient and their respective TV markets, and it is expected to be similar to last season’s figure of €43.897 million for Bayern. Therefore, Munich can confidently anticipate around €130 million in Champions League prize money from this season alone, not including ticket revenue from their seven home games, including the semi-final second leg against PSG.
FC Bayern Munich Could Far Exceed PSG’s CL Earnings

Should Bayern eliminate another giant, PSG, in the semi-finals, their earnings from UEFA’s coffers would increase further. €18.5 million would be awarded for reaching the final, with an additional €6.5 million for winning the title. This is on top of the bonus for participating in the UEFA Super Cup, where the winner receives five million euros and the loser four million.
If FCB wins the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup, they could receive up to an additional €30 million in prize money. This means that, in an optimal scenario, Bayern could earn around €160 million this Champions League season, almost €55 million more than last year when they were eliminated by Inter Milan in the quarter-finals. They would also significantly surpass the prize money earned by their upcoming opponent PSG when they won the Champions League last season (€144.4 million).
Will FC Bayern Munich Win the Triple?
Bayern secured a 2-1 victory in the first leg against Real Madrid and also won the return leg. The 4-3 thriller in the second leg provided numerous spectacular moments and twists throughout the 90 minutes, and also generated significant post-match discussion. PSG, arguably the biggest force in European football currently, awaits them in the semi-finals, as Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich emphasized: «The two best teams in Europe are meeting,» the 31-year-old stated excitedly to DAZN about the clash with the French side.
The first leg will take place on April 28th in Paris, and Bayern coach Vincent Kompany will not be on the sidelines. The 40-year-old received his third yellow card of the current Champions League season in the second leg against Real and must therefore serve a suspension. The second leg at home in Munich will be eight days later on May 6th. The winner of the other semi-final between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid would await them in the final. The final will be held on May 30th in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Bayern previously faced PSG a few months ago, visiting Paris in the group stage in early November. At that time, FCB delivered an impressive performance in the first half and deservedly led 2-0 at halftime. After a red card for Luis Diaz shortly before the break, playing the entire second half with ten men, Bayern held on for the win, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory.
FCB is dreaming of titles not only in the Champions League but also in two other competitions; in fact, they have all but secured the Bundesliga title. With a home win against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, their 35th league title could be confirmed. Bayern also aims to win the DFB-Pokal for the first time since 2020; Kompany’s team will face Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals next Wednesday.
