VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav has expressed his admiration for Bayern Munich’s prolific goalscorer Harry Kane, specifically highlighting the English star’s composure in front of goal as a quality he wishes he possessed.
«I believe I can play well and provide assists. But he has a calmness in front of goal. His cold-bloodedness,» Undav began in a Sky interview, praising Kane.
Undav, who has been the Bundesliga’s top scorer three times in a row since arriving in Munich, noticed that Kane «feels like he takes a second to compose himself before every shot, takes a breath, and then shoots. And having that calmness in front of goal is very important for a striker, because then the shots are placed better,» Undav explained.
The German international continued, «If you train that every day, you become ice-cold, and if I had even a little bit of that, I would have more goals or could score more goals.»

Kane has an incredible record this season, scoring an astonishing 58 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions. With 36 goals in the Bundesliga, the England captain played a significant role in Bayern successfully defending their league title.
Undav finished second in the Bundesliga’s top scorer list – while far behind Kane, he still managed an impressive 19 goals. Across all competitions, the 29-year-old, who has qualified with VfB for the Champions League, has recorded 25 goals and 14 assists in 45 games.
On Saturday, Undav and his teammates aim to cap off a successful season by defeating FC Bayern in the DFB-Pokal final. «There is a clear favorite, and that is FC Bayern. There’s no need to pretend otherwise, but anything can happen in a single game,» Undav said, looking ahead to the clash with Kane. «We are preparing well, we know how good Bayern is. We know we can disrupt them, we can annoy them.»
Deniz Undav Hopes for a Winning Döner in Berlin
In the event of a triumph at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Undav already has a clear plan for the culinary aspect of the celebrations: «If we win, everyone will eat a döner. I don’t think you can avoid that. I’ll watch some YouTube videos beforehand about the top 5 döner places in Berlin and see what appeals to me,» the forward stated.
Two days before the cup final, national coach Julian Nagelsmann will announce the German squad for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday. Despite some negative headlines regarding his relationship with Nagelsmann, Undav is in a strong position to be included. He emphasized, «If I am selected, I will be overjoyed. There is ‘nothing more beautiful than being able to play for your country. That has always been my goal. I was incredibly happy at the Euros, even though it was only seven minutes.'»
Undav made his first of seven international appearances to date in March 2024 during a 2-0 victory against France. A few months later, he was part of the DFB squad at the home European Championship in 2024, where he made a brief appearance in the group stage match against Hungary (2-0).
