Bayern Munich’s midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic will not be joining the German national team for the upcoming international break. Instead of traveling to link up with the DFB squad on Monday, Pavlovic will remain in Munich to recover from an injury.
This means he will be unavailable for head coach Julian Nagelsmann for Germany’s two friendly matches against Switzerland on Friday and Ghana the following Monday. The decision was made after a medical re-evaluation on Sunday, with both Bayern and the German Football Association agreeing not to take any risks with the 22-year-old player’s health.
Pavlovic Missed Bayern Match Due to Hip Issues
Pavlovic had already been sidelined for Bayern’s Bundesliga fixture on Saturday due to hip discomfort. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund indicated that the 22-year-old has played a significant amount recently and has been experiencing complaints. Freund emphasized the need for caution to prevent a more severe injury. Pavlovic had previously been substituted due to injury in a Champions League game.
It remains uncertain whether Pavlovic might still join the national team at a later stage during this international period. For the immediate future, national coach Nagelsmann is expected to call up Angelo Stiller from VfB Stuttgart as a replacement. If confirmed, Stiller would become the fifth VfB Stuttgart player in the current DFB squad.
