Will BVB lose one of its stars this summer? The management, at least, has not given up yet. News and rumors about Borussia Dortmund.
BVB Rumor: Serhou Guirassy Wants to Leave in the Summer — Dortmund Management Still Fighting
Serhou Guirassy has apparently made a decision about his immediate future. According to Sky Sport, the center forward is planning an exit from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The report states that Guirassy is not satisfied with BVB’s playing style under Niko Kovac, although he generally gets along well with the coach. Nevertheless, at 30 years old, he wants to pursue a new challenge, it is said.
Of the seven top clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester City, who could acquire Guirassy from Dortmund for a release clause of 40 million euros, none have yet made an approach, according to Sky. Instead, AC Milan, Fenerbahce, and Tottenham Hotspur are three other renowned clubs vying for the Guinean international, all of whom would have to enter into free transfer negotiations with BVB. Guirassy is still under contract with Borussia until 2028.
The Dortmund officials, according to Sky, have not yet given up on their top scorer. On the one hand, they remain convinced of the 30-year-old’s sporting qualities, and on the other hand, they are aware that an equivalent replacement would be expensive. Therefore, BVB is currently trying to convince Guirassy to stay. A corresponding conversation is said to have already taken place between the new sporting director Ole Book and the player’s side, and sporting director Lars Ricken and coach Kovac are also said to be involved to potentially keep Guirassy in Dortmund.
Guirassy, who joined from VfB Stuttgart in 2024, has scored 21 goals for BVB in 45 appearances this season, along with six assists.
BVB News: Frank Schmidt Explains Bitter Demotion for Dortmund Loanee
Until last weekend, Diant Ramaj was the established goalkeeper for 1. FC Heidenheim. However, in their 3-1 victory in Cologne, it was Frank Feller, not the BVB loanee, who guarded the FCH goal.
«Frank Feller went into pre-season as a potential number one, then he got injured and was out for months. Recently, he has been performing at an absolutely top level in training. Now, it’s not like we’ve won many away games. But we have to win today. We are rewarding him for the performance he has shown. And a bit of luck can also bring us back,» explained Heidenheim coach Frank Schmidt regarding the decision before the match.
Ramaj had «expected» the demotion, as «communication is very clear. We don’t waffle and leave players in the dark; we always say how it is. Even if it’s tough, we say that’s how it is. That’s what we live by, this team spirit,» said Schmidt, whose team can still hope for survival after the success against FC.
Ramaj, who will likely also be on the bench for the season finale against Mainz 05 on Saturday, will return to Dortmund for the time being after his loan spell ends in the summer. BVB had signed the 24-year-old goalkeeper from Ajax Amsterdam in February 2025, and Ramaj’s contract with Borussia runs until 2029.
However, whether Ramaj has a future at BVB is uncertain. The WAZ recently reported that the runner-up is also considering selling the goalkeeper.
BVB News: Dortmund Youth Fight Against Real Madrid for a Title
A mixed team of U19 and U23 players from Borussia Dortmund can secure a title on Tuesday evening (8 PM). In the final of the Premier League International Cup, the BVB youth will face a selection from Real Madrid.
In this tournament, which takes place over several months, the best U21 teams from England compete against each other and against the youth teams of international top clubs. BVB celebrated victories over Leeds United, West Ham United, and AFC Sunderland in the group stage in December and January, advancing to the knockout phase after a defeat against Manchester United. In the quarter-finals, Dortmund eliminated FC Everton, and in the semi-finals at the end of April, they overcame Real Sociedad.
«Real is a typical Spanish team that has a lot of possession, plays dominantly, and presses high,» said Dortmund’s U19 coach Felix Hirschnagl ahead of the final against the Madrid team. U23 coach Daniel Rios emphasized: «We won’t change our approach and become significantly more defensive. We are convinced that our way of playing football – with and without the ball – increases the probability of deciding the game in our favor against a very good opponent.»
Dortmund’s squad for the duel with Real includes Filippo Mane, Almugera Kabar, and the 16-year-old top talent Mathis Albert, who made his Bundesliga debut in the 4-0 win against Freiburg at the end of April.
