FC Bayern Munich is reportedly eager to offload Bryan Zaragoza, with the player himself aiming to return to a former club.
According to Spanish newspaper Nos Diario, the 24-year-old winger wishes to rejoin Celta Vigo. He had prematurely left the La Liga club in the winter to join AS Roma. However, it is now believed he regrets this move to the Giallorossi.
Zaragoza’s loan spell with Celta Vigo, who have once again qualified for the Europa League, was terminated early. He had been a regular starter for the Spanish side and frequently featured in European competitions before his departure.
In contrast, after a promising start in Rome, he found himself sidelined. Consequently, the Serie A club will not exercise the agreed-upon purchase option of 13 million euros. Following a knee injury, he did not play another competitive match for Roma after mid-March, partly to avoid triggering a purchase obligation tied to playing time.
Roma even accepted paying a penalty of 500,000 euros to FC Bayern Munich to avoid having to sign the player permanently. Zaragoza had initially joined Bayern Munich on loan in January 2024, with a permanent transfer from FC Granada for a total of 17 million euros. However, he struggled to establish himself, reportedly due to a language barrier and a reportedly strained relationship with then-coach Thomas Tuchel. His contract in Munich runs until 2029.
Zaragoza Played Only Seven Games for FC Bayern
In total, he managed only seven competitive appearances for the Bavarian giants. It is understood he has no future at the record German champions. Furthermore, according to kicker, Bayern is reliant on transfer income to finance their own transfer plans, including the potential signing of versatile attacker Ismael Saibari (PSV Eindhoven). Alongside Zaragoza, loan returnees Alexander Nübel (VfB Stuttgart), Joao Palhinha (Tottenham Hotspur), and Sacha Boey (Galatasaray Istanbul) are also reportedly up for sale.
However, a return for Zaragoza to Celta Vigo is reportedly proving difficult. The sixth-placed team from the past season is reportedly unwilling to spend a significant amount on Zaragoza again after the loan termination. Instead, Bayern would need to accommodate the Galicians, who are in search of a winger.
