Bixente Lizarazu: Bayern Superstar a Ballon d’Or Candidate

Former French World Cup winner Bixente Lizarazu considers Bayern star Michael Olise a candidate for the Ballon d’Or.

«He is playing at an incredibly high level and shows that in big games like against Real Madrid or in the first leg against Paris,» the former Bayern player told Bild newspaper. «And he plays in a very successful team, which is also an important factor in the Ballon d’Or selection.»

However, the 56-year-old added ahead of Bayern’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain (first leg 4-5) on Wednesday (9 PM): «In the end, you also have to win the really big titles to become the world’s best player. Besides the Champions League performance, how he does at the World Cup with France will also be important.»

Lizarazu on Olise: «My favorite player worldwide»

Lizarazu raved about Olise’s qualities. «He is currently my favorite player worldwide,» he said of his compatriot, who is currently playing «at an incredible level.» «I am enchanted by how technically strong and creative he is – he constantly invents his own plays and is also elegant.»

Olise’s self-confidence also speaks for the winger, as does «his atypical way,» said Lizarazu. «He hardly ever speaks, which also makes him mysterious.»
