A Statement of Intent! Martin Schindler and Partner Ricardo Pietreczko Start the Darts Team World Cup Brilliantly

Darts professionals Martin Schindler and his partner Ricardo Pietreczko have made a significant statement in their opening match at the Team World Cup in Frankfurt.

The German duo secured a resounding 4-0 victory against the Philippine team of Alexis Toylo and Paolo Nebrida.

This dominant win saw the German team, seeded fifth, comfortably win the first match of the tournament. In the group stage of the Team World Cup, matches are played in a best-of-seven format, while from the round of 16 onwards, the format shifts to a best-of-seven sets match.

Last year, Schindler and Pietreczko reached the semi-finals, notably causing an upset by defeating the exceptional English players Luke Littler and Luke Humphries. According to Schindler, however, the pair are «not having a good season,» embodying the saying «the wrongly condemned live on.»

With this opening win, the German team has laid a strong foundation for advancing to the round of 16 in a challenging group. Their next encounter will be against New Zealand on Friday (starting at 7 PM/DAZN). Only the group winner will qualify for the final 16, a stage for which the top four seeded nations – England, Netherlands, Scotland, and Northern Ireland – are already guaranteed a spot.
