Jonathan David bids farewell to Lille: Final game May 18th against Reims, future yet to be decided.

Jonathan David is poised to leave Lille LOSC at the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season. The Canadian forward is scheduled to play his last match for Lille on Saturday, May 18th, against Stade de Reims, on the final day of the French league campaign. Following five successful seasons marked by numerous goals, David has opted against renewing his contract, which expires on June 30, 2025, in favor of seeking a new challenge in his football career.

Jonathan David conveyed his farewell message to the Lille supporters through an emotional video posted on his Instagram profile. “I know I haven`t had the easiest start, but you`ve always been behind me, you supported me despite all the difficult moments… It`s time for me to say goodbye,” the prolific striker stated.

Having scored 109 goals in 231 official appearances, David ranks as the second-highest goalscorer in Lille`s history, establishing himself as a crucial figure for the “Dogues”.

Jonathan David`s destination during the upcoming summer transfer window remains uncertain, but a host of European clubs are reportedly monitoring his situation. According to recent reports, the Canadian international is a potential target for elite clubs including Barcelona, Inter Milan, Napoli, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético Madrid, and Juventus.

Domestically in France, both Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Marseille had previously shown interest, but it is understood that the striker is currently leaning towards a move away from Ligue 1.
