Vlahovic: “I Am the Number Nine”, But Feels Mistreated

According to reports, Dusan Vlahovic is considerably unhappy with the way he has been managed by both coaches and the club. Early negotiations for his contract renewal, handled by former Technical Director Giuntoli, suggested an extension until 2028 with a reduced salary, reportedly between 7 and 8 million euros.

During the season, Thiago Motta heavily relied on him when alternatives were scarce (Milik was frequently unavailable), pushing him to play through injuries. However, once Randal Kolo Muani arrived, Vlahovic was subsequently sidelined. Igor Tudor also attempted to revive his form, but a lack of goals led Tudor to ultimately favour Muani, who found his stride just in time for the crucial Champions League race. The Serbian striker feels he was exploited and later treated as a burden, both in terms of finances and on-field value.

His frustration was palpable in his response, “If I stay? That`s not a question for me.” This was followed by communication to the club (reportedly to Comolli) expressing his intention to see out his current contract without renewing. Juventus initially hesitated but ultimately decided to sign David nonetheless, to avoid being dictated by an individual player`s decision. This situation now puts Vlahovic at risk of becoming an alienated figure within the squad.
