Vincent Kompany Praises Serge Gnabry: «Most Underestimated Talent» at FC Bayern

Following FC Bayern Munich’s dominant 4-0 victory over Union Berlin, manager Vincent Kompany delivered effusive praise for his winger, Serge Gnabry.

The 30-year-old forward was instrumental in the win, scoring twice and actively contributing to numerous dangerous attacks for the German record champions. When asked if he was surprised by Gnabry’s consistently strong performance, Kompany responded after the final whistle: «It doesn’t surprise me at all, but it always makes me happy. Serge is perhaps the one whose talent is most underestimated among all our lads, mainly because he sometimes gets injured and misses games. That’s why I’m always pleased when Serge shows how good he truly is.»

After a mixed previous season, where he often played a substitute role and contributed only 16 goal involvements (seven goals, nine assists) in 47 competitive appearances, Gnabry has become an indispensable starter under Kompany this season. In 34 games, he has already registered an impressive ten goals and ten assists.

Gnabry’s Resurgence Under Nagelsmann and International Call-Up

Attesting to his renewed form, Bayern Munich recently extended the 30-year-old’s contract, originally set to expire in the summer of 2026, by an additional two years until June 30, 2028.

Furthermore, Gnabry has also returned to the spotlight for the German national team. He has been named in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for the upcoming international matches against Switzerland and Ghana, significantly boosting his chances of participating in the next World Cup.
