Last winter, VfB Stuttgart reportedly turned down a substantial €40 million offer from Premier League club AFC Bournemouth for their German international winger, Jamie Leweling. However, recent indications suggest that the club’s management might be considerably more receptive to a sale in the upcoming summer transfer window, provided a suitable offer materializes.
Leweling has firmly established himself as a central figure in VfB’s attacking strategies. His impressive contribution of 11 goals and 9 assists this season, totaling 20 direct goal contributions across 41 competitive appearances, underscores his immense value to the squad. Up until now, Stuttgart has consistently rebuffed all transfer inquiries for the talented player.
This steadfast stance, nevertheless, could be set to change this summer. Reports suggest that the Swabian club is now prepared to consider letting the winger depart if an offer in the region of €50 million is submitted. Interest in Leweling, particularly from clubs in the Premier League, remains significant. AFC Bournemouth, who previously tabled the €40 million bid in winter, are believed to still be keen on securing his services.
Despite the growing transfer speculations, Leweling himself made his intentions clear back in January after VfB’s commanding 4-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. He stated emphatically: «I don’t want to leave; I want to stay. We still have a lot to achieve as a team.» He further emphasized the «definite» nature of his decision at that time.

Jamie Leweling initially joined VfB Stuttgart from Union Berlin in the summer of 2023 on an initial loan spell, which was later made permanent. His current contract with VfB is set to run until June 30, 2029. It’s worth noting that in the summer of 2023, other prominent clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Italian giants Juventus Turin, also showed interest in Leweling, but Stuttgart successfully resisted a sale then as well.
