Antonello Valentini, former general manager of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), believes that Thiago Motta`s main issue at Juventus was insufficient support from the club`s management in helping him integrate. Valentini stated on Tmw Radio that Motta became a scapegoat for a failed project.
“Juventus is competing for a Champions League spot, which is the minimum objective for this season,” Valentini noted. He added that Igor Tudor, having played for Juventus, is familiar with the environment.
Valentini pointed out that Motta struggled to connect with the players, which ultimately led to his downfall. Motta`s departure is seen as the first step in a reconstruction project that needs to begin at the management level. Valentini criticized certain managerial decisions as questionable.
He highlighted Giorgio Chiellini as someone within the group who possesses knowledge, charisma, and experience. Valentini suggested that the former Italy captain could serve as an excellent link between the management and the team. He questioned why the club seems to consistently undervalue Chiellini`s potential contribution.
