Uli Hoeneß has recently voiced his displeasure regarding certain squad developments within the national team under Julian Nagelsmann. It appears a discussion has now taken place.
Julian Nagelsmann had recently heard significant criticism from Uli Hoeneß concerning his decisions and communication. Now, the honorary president of Bayern Munich and the national team coach have reportedly met for a discussion.
According to information from kicker, the meeting occurred on the sidelines of the Cup final in Berlin on Saturday, with former Munich club chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also present.
Hoeneß had repeatedly attacked Nagelsmann in recent weeks. Among other things, he accused him of still not having a cohesive team shortly before the start of the World Cup (June 11 to July 19). Hoeneß’s points of criticism also included the decision to establish Joshua Kimmich as a right-back and the handling of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann in the context of Manuel Neuer’s return.
Nagelsmann had publicly remained unfazed. «I value Uli extremely – and I know he has my mobile number too. And I’m always happy when he has a pressing matter, sees potential for improvement in our team, and communicates it to me,» he said in mid-May during his visit to the ZDF-Sportstudio, adding, «Uli can always say something to me.»
