Udinese has officially announced the acquisition of defender Nicolò Bertola. The young Italian defender, who had recently been linked with Juventus, is welcomed with enthusiasm by the Friulian club. Considered one of Italy`s best emerging defenders, Bertola is coming off a high-profile season with Spezia in Serie B, where he scored 3 goals in 28 appearances. Described as a modern defender who is technical and physical, he is viewed as a top-level prospect on the international stage.
Born in Carrara on March 23, 2003, Bertola progressed through Spezia`s youth academy, reaching the first team in the 2021/22 season. Coincidentally, his Serie A debut took place at the Bluenergy Stadium on May 14, 2022, in a match Spezia won 3-2. The following year, he gained valuable experience on loan with Montevarchi in Serie C, playing 22 league games and scoring one goal. He returned to Liguria for the 2023/24 campaign, making 16 Serie B appearances and scoring one goal.
