TUDOR to Mediaset: “The lads gave everything, we did what was possible. Now rest well to restart”

`Igor

Following the defeat against Real Madrid, Igor Tudor spoke to Mediaset, offering his analysis of the match. He began by praising his players, highlighting that they successfully executed the game plan they had established beforehand, a strategy specifically designed to counter a team of Real Madrid`s known high caliber. Tudor emphasized that the players gave their utmost effort under the challenging match conditions. He noted that during the game, ten players requested substitutions, indicating the physical toll. Addressing the situation with Yildiz specifically, Tudor mentioned the player was stretching and touching his hamstring, which raised concerns about a potential injury. He explained he had considered making changes to avoid finishing the match with only ten men, especially with the possibility of extra time. Ultimately, he reiterated his commendation for the players` dedication against two top-tier opponents, stating that these types of matches serve as crucial learning experiences. He concluded this point by stressing the immediate need for the team to rest thoroughly before they can regroup and restart.

When asked what methods he used to elicit such a positive response from the team so soon after the previous match against City, Tudor clarified that the encounter with Real Madrid was prepared for and approached in a fundamentally different way, involving a distinct strategy and taking place in an entirely separate context; it was, in his words, “totally another game.” He contrasted it with the City match, which he stated “didn`t count for anything” in comparison, whereas this match against Real Madrid was significant and required specific preparation against a universally strong opponent. He acknowledged that his side missed some opportunities and had periods where they were forced to defend intensely, but he firmly reiterated the necessity for the team to rest effectively now before they move forward.

Questioned about what kind of Juventus team he hoped to see after the holidays, potential moves in the transfer market, and whether he had already discussed these matters with the club management, Tudor was brief. He stated plainly that “it is not the moment” for such discussions. He reiterated that the priority now is rest, and there would be ample time to talk about future plans and market considerations later.
