Juventus coach Igor Tudor spoke to Dazn shortly before the Juventus-Genoa match. Here are his thoughts:
It must be difficult to contain the emotion with such a stadium and fans greeting you at the hotel yesterday.
“It was beautiful, emotional, for sure. The fans have always been important, and they are especially important now to support the team because we need to start strong and perform well. Emotions are fine, but we need to get results, we need to do what`s necessary, which is to win.”
To play your game, good physical condition is needed. How did you find the team?
“It`s a bit of an unknown because we only had two training sessions together. There were international breaks, so there`s pre-match preparation, but we worked both physically and tactically. I hope to see concrete results already. I think something has to be visible. We work day by day, game by game, as is always right. I found players eager to do well. I think the team is strong, and we hope to start well today.”
Is it a match to seize to get the public on your side?
“Yes, it`s important to start strong, and we will start strong. But the match is long, we need to be consistent, push hard, if possible for the whole match, if not, as long as we can. Whether winning or losing, Valon (Behrami, ed) knows, I had the fortune to coach him, we always push hard, then we`ll see how much fuel we have left. There are five substitutions, which in today`s football are too important, half the team changes.”
You`ve always said how different Juve is, and now the moment you`ve always dreamed of has arrived.
“It`s clear, I`ve already talked about this. There are different generations, they need to be taught, but taught quickly. Then football is always football, you need to do the right things on the pitch, that`s what makes the difference. You win, which is what counts, but you win by doing the right things, working hard. The week is key to getting here.”
