During an appearance on the “A Fontana Di Trevi” segment of Cronache di Spogliatoio, journalist Riccardo Trevisani shared his perspective on coach Antonio Conte. His remarks regarding the Napoli manager, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb, delve into match analysis beyond just results.
Trevisani stated: “While everyone focuses on the result – so if Conte wins, he`ll be considered great, otherwise not – I believe games must be watched and analyzed. Monza-Napoli was an atrocity, an obscene and appalling performance considering the display and the importance of the match. However, against Parma, I can`t strongly criticize Parma-Napoli; overall, they were never truly in difficulty and hit the woodwork three times, even if sporadically.”
He continued, “My main criticism is directed at Napoli-Genoa, where a team known for its strong defense conceded two goals in that manner. But regarding the idea `Conte is a guarantee, Conte is a guarantee`… He`s had two consecutive draws, one of which was at home against Genoa`s reserve players. Therefore, there`s no absolute guarantee.”
Trevisani also touched upon Napoli`s season performance: “If Inter had won against Lazio, they would have won the league. For me, though, Napoli was expected to reach 80 points, and they achieved exactly what I thought they would, so they deserve applause for that. Whether they win the Scudetto is not the most relevant point, because you can win it with 80 points if everyone else gets fewer, so it`s not the sole measure of importance.”
