Sunderland Appoints Florent Ghisolfi as New Sporting Director

Although previously linked with Juventus, Florent Ghisolfi has now officially taken on the role of sporting director for Sunderland. The English club released a statement confirming the appointment.

“Sunderland AFC is delighted to confirm the appointment of Florent Ghisolfi as the Club`s new Sporting Director. The Frenchman will begin his duties at the Stadium of Light from July 3, 2025, following his departure from his Sporting Director position at Serie A side AS Roma last month.

“The appointment of the 40-year-old aligns with a natural progression in Sunderland AFC`s long-term strategic vision, as the Club continues its preparations for the challenges and opportunities presented by the Premier League. Prior to his time in the Italian capital, Florent served as Sporting Director for RC Lens and OGC Nice in Ligue 1. His playing career spanned eleven years, including spells at SC Bastia and Stade de Reims, where he later became an assistant coach. He also held an assistant coach role at FC Lorient from 2017 to 2019.”
