Spurs Extend Win Streak: Wembanyama & Castle Dominate Bucks, Chase OKC for Top Spot

The San Antonio Spurs secured an anticipated victory against the Milwaukee Bucks, with Victor Wembanyama delivering a solid performance and dominating defensively.

The San Antonio Spurs celebrated a dominant wire-to-wire victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday evening. Led by Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, the Spurs convincingly won 127-95, extending their winning streak to eight games.

Despite not having his best shooting night, the French phenom Wembanyama still recorded an impressive 23 points (7/21 FG, 0/3 3FG), 15 rebounds, and 6 assists. His defensive presence around the basket was particularly impactful, intimidating opponents. His single block in the game was also a highlight.

Stephon Castle Achieves Triple-Double as Bucks’ Playoff Streak Ends

Stephon Castle continued his exceptional form. The 21-year-old Spurs point guard recorded his fourth career triple-double against the Bucks, his second in March, and third this year.

Castle finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. As a team, the Spurs shot an excellent 55.1 percent from the field.

The Bucks played their sixth consecutive game without their injured superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is sidelined with knee issues.

This loss sealed the Bucks’ fate: the 2021 NBA champions will miss the playoffs for the first time after nine consecutive appearances. Gary Trent Jr. led the hosts in scoring with 18 points.

San Antonio Spurs Maintain Pressure on OKC

The Spurs dominated from the outset, extending their lead to as much as 28 points in the second quarter. While the Bucks managed to cut the deficit to 13 points with their strongest run at the start of the third quarter, the Spurs maintained control.

However, the visitors then picked up the pace again, entering the final twelve minutes with a 23-point advantage. The lead grew to a maximum of 38 points before the game wound down in the closing minutes.

The Spurs continue to press NBA Champions and league leaders OKC. Just two victories separate the league’s top two teams, with Wembanyama and co. having eight games remaining to potentially close the gap.
