Spalletti: “Poor Approach Initially, Real Match in the Second Half”

Italian national team coach Luciano Spalletti shared his thoughts on the draw against Germany in an interview with Rai Sport.

“We are starting from an assessment of what happened. In the second half, there was an awakening, and they showed what they are capable of,” Spalletti said, reflecting on the game.

Regarding the controversial decision to overturn a penalty, Spalletti stated, “I couldn`t see from the bench, and I prefer to avoid controversies about the incident. The team reacted well.”

When asked about the second goal conceded, and if it made him angry, Spalletti explained, “We had noticed that they take quick corner kicks. If we don`t manage to react in time, then it`s fair to concede a goal. We definitely need to pay more attention.”

Analyzing the first half performance, Spalletti commented, “We missed too many second balls, and we couldn`t control possession. The approach wasn`t good; I expected more. We were at the mercy of our opponents. In the second half, it became a real match.”

Looking ahead to the World Cup Qualifiers in June, Spalletti reassured, “We know what to do. Rest assured, we know what to do.”
