Roma`s attacking midfielder, Matias Soulé, recently spoke to ESPN about his experiences and aspirations. His comments, as reported by Tmw, touched upon his current season, adapting to the team, and his national team dreams.
“I didn`t start this season very well,” Soulé admitted, “but fortunately, things are going well now. We are fighting for a Champions League spot, and we hope to achieve it.”
Reflecting on scoring in his first ever derby match, Soulé described it as a pivotal moment. “It was a dream,” he said. “It was my first derby, and I managed to score that goal. It was a beautiful feeling. Scoring a goal in a match like that changes things, especially self-confidence. We wanted to win, but considering how the match went, a point was better than nothing.”
Soulé also spoke highly of his Argentine teammates, World Cup winners Leandro Paredes and Paulo Dybala. “They are two great players and, most importantly, excellent people,” he stated. “We laugh a lot, spend a lot of time together, and thanks to them, I adapted very quickly.”
Regarding the possibility of representing his country, Soulé made his feelings clear. “The national team is a dream,” he affirmed. “I hope to be called up when the time is right. I`m calm, but a possible call-up always causes anxiety. Everything you do at the club can help you achieve it. Now that I`m playing more, I hope it happens.”
When asked about his overall dreams, Soulé concluded: “I hope to win something here with Roma and be able to play in an important tournament with the national team in the future.”
