Shock for Liverpool! Top Star’s Injury Worse Than Expected

Liverpool FC is set to be without their first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker for a longer period than initially anticipated.

Ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester City, LFC coach Arne Slot announced at a press conference that the Brazilian international would be unavailable for the Reds in the coming weeks.

In addition to the match against the Skyblues, Alisson will also miss the Champions League encounter with Paris Saint-Germain. «He will not be available for the PSG game either, as he will be out for a bit longer,» Slot stated. His return is expected «towards the end of the season.»

Alisson’s initial injury absence was due to muscular problems during the Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Galatasaray. He then returned to the squad for the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur and the return leg against the Turkish side, only to be sidelined again for the match against Brighton & Hove Albion just before the international break.

Alexander Isak Nearing Liverpool Comeback

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah is making a return, having also missed the Brighton game. «Salah is fit to play; he trained with us yesterday, will train with us today, and is available for tomorrow,» Slot confirmed.

Furthermore, striker Alexander Isak could also be on the verge of his comeback after a prolonged injury layoff. The Swede has been out for nearly four months due to a broken fibula, but his return to the squad is now a possibility.

The LFC coach explained, «It’s still too early to expect him in the starting eleven. Yesterday was his first training session after 101 days out. It will take some time before we can give him significant game time, but we will ensure we do the right thing to build him back up. It’s good to have him back on the training pitch, even better to get him on the field.»
