Norwegian football sensation FK Bodø/Glimt has unveiled a particularly special new jersey for the recently commenced domestic season. This new kit not only commemorates the club's 110th anniversary, founded in 1916, but also "represents its growing global presence," according to a press release from Empower Sports. This expanded reach follows Bodø/Glimt's sensational run to the Round of 16 in their very first Champions League season.

The statement further emphasizes that the Norwegian top club has "written one of the most admired stories in European football." The new jersey, naturally presented in the club's signature yellow with black accents, draws inspiration from some of Bodø/Glimt's early shirts. Its distinctive collar is also "a homage to kits from the club's earliest decades, as well as those from the 1990s and early 2000s."

Bodø/Glimt's Champions League Upset: Nearly Reaching the Quarter-Finals

The kit's distinctiveness is primarily highlighted by a global video campaign featuring footage from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Tokyo (Japan), and Amsterdam (Netherlands). This initiative aims to demonstrate Bodø/Glimt's increased worldwide popularity, fueled by their recent Champions League successes, which have attracted new fans and admirers across the globe.

"We come from a small fishing town in northern Norway, but more and more people around the world are following Bodø/Glimt," captain Patrick Berg stated in the video. "We are proud to have them with us now."

Bodø/Glimt surprisingly secured their spot in the Champions League knockout phase with a powerful late surge in the league stage. In their final three matchdays, the Norwegians followed a 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund with impressive victories against Manchester City (3-1) and away at Atletico Madrid (2-1). This propelled them to 23rd place, thereby qualifying for the playoffs.

In the playoffs, Bodø/Glimt created another sensation, eliminating last year's finalist Inter Milan with two wins (3-1 and 2-1). In the Round of 16, after a commanding 3-0 first-leg victory against Sporting Lisbon, they appeared to be on the verge of entering the quarter-finals as one of Europe's top eight teams. However, the return leg in Portugal saw them suffer a 0-5 defeat after extra time, leading to the eventual elimination of Jens Petter Hauge and his teammates.

Nevertheless, Bodø/Glimt undoubtedly made history. The new kit is intended for the recently commenced 2026 season, which, unlike most other European leagues, is played within the calendar year in Norway. Due to their international commitments, Bodø/Glimt has not yet taken part in domestic league action and had a bye on the opening weekend. The Champions League Round of 16 participants' first league match is now scheduled for early April against Kristiansund BK.
