Surprising Transfer Opportunity for Ex-BVB Talent Emre Mor to a Champions League Club, Despite No Recent Playtime
Emre Mor, most recently under contract with Fenerbahce, is reportedly on the verge of a transfer to Dutch Eredivisie club NEC Nijmegen.
This is according to Voetbal International. The report suggests that Mor impressed during a trial period and made a positive impression in two test matches against De Treffers and MSV Duisburg. Consequently, NEC is looking to offer the 28-year-old a two-year contract.
Fenerbahce signed Mor in 2022 with a four-year contract, which has now expired, allowing him to move as a free agent. However, the attacking player's last appearance for the Istanbul giants was in January 2024. He missed the first half of the previous season due to injuries, and Fenerbahce did not register him for play in the second half.
NEC Nijmegen was the surprise package of the previous season in the Dutch Eredivisie. Coach Dick Schreuder's team finished third behind champions PSV and Feyenoord Rotterdam with a spectacular offensive style of play, earning them a spot in the Champions League qualifiers.
BVB Sold Emre Mor After Just One Year
Emre Mor was born in Denmark and came through the youth academy of FC Nordsjaelland. After only 13 professional games, Borussia Dortmund purchased him in 2016 for approximately ten million euros. At BVB, Mor's individualistic playing style drew negative attention, leading the club to sell him to Celta Vigo for 13 million euros just a year later. Mor did not impress at the Galicians, nor did he at loan spells with Galatasaray, Olympiacos, and Karagümrük.
After representing Denmark up to the U19 level, Mor switched his international allegiance to the Turkish national team, for whom he has played 15 senior matches (scoring one goal).
