Gladbach Fans' Creative Protest: Boycott Stadium Food and Drinks Against RB Leipzig

Borussia Mönchengladbach fans are demonstrating increasing creativity in their protests against Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig. Ahead of Saturday's away match in Saxony, the FPMG Supporters Club, the umbrella organization for "Foals" fans, has urged supporters to refrain from consuming food and drinks at the Red Bull Arena.

"Forgo the beer and the bratwurst in the stadium for once," stated the Gladbach fans in a released statement. They justified this by saying, "While purchasing a ticket is unavoidable to enable the protest against RB and support our club, consumption of food and drinks in the stadium should be avoided. It is important to remain consistent at this point, despite the small amount of money involved."

The statement continued, "Every additional euro that goes directly or indirectly to RB is counterproductive and in this specific case avoidable, as there are countless alternatives for catering for travel to and from the game, as well as around the match in the city."

Gladbach Fans Traditionally Protest RB with Vuvuzelas

The FPMG Supporters Club's appeal is part of their strategy for "the best possible way to deal with the hated construct that contradicts all values and beliefs that we, as Borussia Mönchengladbach fans, represent on and off the matchday."

Traditionally, the "Foals'" supporters massively protest during their encounters with RB. For the first 19 minutes of each match, all touches of the ball by Leipzig players are accompanied by a concert of vuvuzelas. This has "now become established and is an elementary part of our protest. Maintaining this protest is the responsibility of every individual."

To continue this tradition for Saturday's match, fans are advised to consider the "meticulous checks at the entrance."

Sportingly, the relegation-threatened visitors have generally not fared well in Leipzig, having never won any of their ten away games there, with six losses and four draws. However, the fan organization is clear: "Matches against RB Leipzig must never become normal!"
