FC Bayern Changes Course: No Kennet Eichhorn Transfer, Noel Aseko Confirmed to Return
FC Bayern has reportedly withdrawn from the pursuit of 16-year-old midfield talent Kennet Eichhorn from Hertha BSC.
Eichhorn had recently been strongly linked with a summer transfer to Munich. However, a change of heart has reportedly occurred for two specific reasons.
Firstly, the total cost of the deal is said to be too high for FC Bayern, with Eichhorn's release clause for next summer reportedly between ten and twelve million euros. Secondly, Bayern's management is reportedly concerned that signing Eichhorn could create dissatisfaction within their currently highly productive youth academy.
Although Eichhorn is considered one of Germany's brightest talents, having secured a regular starting spot at just 16 years old this past first half of the season, his acquisition would complicate the progression of Munich's own midfield talents into the professional squad. Recently, David Santos Daiber (19) and Felipe Chavez (18), who moved to 1. FC Köln on loan this winter, both made their debuts.
Noel Aseko Returns to FC Bayern This Summer
Furthermore, FC Bayern confirmed on Thursday in a press release that they are bringing Noel Aseko back from Hannover 96 this summer. The 20-year-old, a product of Bayern's youth academy, has been playing on loan at second-division club Hannover 96 this season. After Aseko impressed, Hannover recently exercised their one-million-euro buy option, prompting Munich to immediately activate their 2.5-million-euro buy-back clause.
Aseko could potentially fill the squad spot of Leon Goretzka, who is set to leave the club on a free transfer next season. Besides regular starters Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic, Tom Bischof is also available for the double pivot. Both Bischof and Aseko can theoretically provide cover as full-backs.
