Andrew Robertson Departs FC Liverpool: A Club Legend's Farewell

Following in the footsteps of Mohamed Salah, FC Liverpool is set to bid farewell to another prominent figure from recent years. As announced by the club on Thursday evening, left-back Andrew Robertson will be leaving.

The Scottish defender, much like Salah, joined manager Jürgen Klopp's squad nine years ago. "I will always look back with great memories of this football club," Robertson stated in a farewell video. "I've put my heart and soul into the club for nine years and I don't have much to regret." His contract is set to expire this summer, and his next destination remains undisclosed. The 32-year-old is yet to reveal where he will play next.

Salah also shared emotional words regarding Robertson's impending departure. "Seeing these images that show our connection, I almost felt like I could afford to say nothing about your farewell," the Egyptian wrote on his Instagram account. "It was an honor to be your teammate and your friend. You have won everything and leave the club as a legend. I am sure we will see each other again."

Robertson's Diminishing Role Under New Manager Arne Slot

During his tenure, Robertson was a key player in Liverpool's success, notably winning the Champions League in the 2018/19 season, followed by their long-awaited Premier League title the subsequent season. The fan favorite, who quickly won over supporters with his energetic displays on the left flank, also secured another Premier League title in 2024/25. In total, Robertson collected nine trophies with Liverpool, including the FA Cup, League Cup, and Club World Cup.

Robertson transferred to Merseyside from Hull City in 2017. The Scottish national team captain has made 373 appearances for LFC to date. However, under the management of Arne Slot this season, Robertson has seen his playing time significantly reduced, featuring less frequently in the starting lineup.
