Serhou Guirassy’s future at BVB next season remains uncertain, as a new interested club is reportedly pursuing the striker.
Speculation surrounding Serhou Guirassy continues. While reports weeks ago suggested the BVB striker might sign his last major career contract in Saudi Arabia for a significant financial gain, it was recently clarified that this isn’t a done deal. Now, another club is reportedly showing interest in Guirassy.
Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly showing strong interest in the forward. The Premier League club, currently struggling sportingly, apparently plans a squad overhaul in which Guirassy could play a key role.
Spurs officials have reportedly observed him in the stadium five times consecutively and have already made contact with his management. A move to England would also be financially attractive for the striker, as his estimated current salary of ten million euros could potentially increase there.
Guirassy’s Release Clause at BVB Not Valid for Spurs or Milan
For Dortmund, a potential transfer would also be advantageous. Since Guirassy’s special release clause of 45 to 50 million euros only applies to a select number of top clubs, Tottenham would have to negotiate freely. AC Milan is also in the running, and the resulting competition could drive up the transfer fee.
Following their exit from the Champions League, BVB faces potential financial losses. However, a lucrative sale this summer could mitigate these losses and create additional financial flexibility for new transfers.
Guirassy’s Potential Summer Departure: Saudi Arabia Now ‘Second Priority’
Regarding the recurring rumors of a move to Saudi Arabia, where his brother and agent reportedly offered him last summer and where he stands to double his Dortmund salary, it is now reported that this option is only a ‘second priority.’ While a move to the desert is not ruled out, several European clubs set to play in the Champions League next season have now contacted his management.
The release clause enshrined in Guirassy’s contract, which would allow the striker a move for 45 to 50 million euros two years before his contract ends in Dortmund, reportedly only applies to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, or Liverpool.
Guirassy Sets His Own Transfer Deadline
Guirassy has, in the meantime, set himself a deadline for his decision on the future. He intends to inform the club shortly after the season ends in May whether he will request a transfer release or enter his final contract year with the Black and Yellows. His ‘big dream’ remains to win a title with Dortmund.
Guirassy is also considered Dortmund’s top scorer this current season. In 38 competitive matches, he has recorded 17 goals and six assists. In his debut season with BVB, he scored 34 goals and provided nine assists across 45 competitive appearances.
