Writer Roberto Saviano`s Statements on Inter and Napoli Ultras
Italian writer Roberto Saviano has responded to criticism from Inter Milan fans via Instagram, after stating that Inter is an `ambiguous club with connections to clans and ultras deeply infiltrated by the `Ndrangheta.` This comment was made following Orsolini`s goal.
One fan challenged Saviano, asking if he was ashamed of making serious accusations against Inter and its millions of fans. Saviano clarified that his criticism was not directed at all fans. He stated, “I didn`t accuse all fans, I said that Inter`s curva (ultras) is currently the most infiltrated in Italy, and I find it absurd that the club has not taken action over the years. In fact, investigations suggest they have been in a subordinate position.”
Another Inter fan questioned the situation with Napoli`s ultras, asking, “But Napoli`s curva has never been linked to the Camorra, right?”
Saviano responded, “Absolutely, for years Napoli`s fanbase was controlled by clans. I denounced figures like `Genny la carogna` (Narco) in my articles, not as a violent fan, but in connection to organized crime. This drew anger from Napoli`s curva at the time, just as Inter`s fans are reacting now. Today, Napoli has different policies against clans, unlike Inter, which in recent years has silently watched its own fanbase become infiltrated by organized crime.”
