Domenico Berardi, a player previously linked with Juventus, recently spoke to SassuoloChannel about his career and future. The forward shared his thoughts on his long tenure at the club and the impact of the new coach, Fabio Grosso.
Berardi reflected on his deep connection with Sassuolo, describing the club as a family. “The story of Sassuolo being like a family is a long one,” he stated. “It started with Carnevali, Giorgio Squinzi, and Adriana Spazzoli, who treated me like their own son. Sadly, they are no longer with us, but their children, Veronica and Marco, have continued their legacy and provided immense support, especially when I was injured. I`ve always considered Sassuolo a family and a place where I truly feel at home. I am proud to be a symbol of this club, as there aren`t many long-serving `bandiere` (club icons) left like me.”
Speaking about the new coach, Fabio Grosso, Berardi commented, “Grosso made a good impression right from the start. He`s successfully rebuilt the team unity that was somewhat missing last season. He`s brought a sense of lightheartedness and valuable experience, having previously won the Serie B title with Frosinone. Thanks to him, we`ve clearly understood how challenging this league is. The coach genuinely loves football; he`s instilled passion, a strong work ethic, and the importance of sacrifice in us, and as I mentioned, he`s restored that group cohesion that was lost last year.”
