Former Sampdoria Scudetto-winning captain Luca Pellegrini has commented on the club`s first-ever relegation to Serie C, describing it as “a great pain, but the heart of the Sampdoria fans never gets relegated.”
Pellegrini continued, stating that for anyone who has worn, lived, and felt the Sampdoria colors as a part of themselves, feeling them “still tattooed on their skin,” seeing the team relegated to Serie C is “immense pain.” He called it “a hard blow to digest, leaving a deep mark. A strong sporting and emotional pain that we hope can only be alleviated by a prompt and solid reorganization by the club, with the goal of bringing this glorious club back to the categories it deserves.”
Having experienced Sampdoria`s most glorious years, Pellegrini stated with certainty that what this team will never lose is “the unconditional love of its fans.” He described this bond as strong, present, and indestructible, both during the celebrated victories of the `Golden Samp` and in the recent difficult battles fought to avoid this “incredible relegation.” He concluded by emphasizing, “Sampdoria must restart from its fans, from the true Sampdorians, who have always been the heart of this team.”
