Salvatore Bocchetti is set to take charge of Atalanta U23 in Serie C. This move follows two brief, less fortunate stints managing in Serie A with Hellas Verona (6 games from October to November 2022) and Monza (seven games from December 2024 to February 2025).
The former defender, born in 1986, is reportedly close to taking over the Atalanta U23 bench, which was recently and unexpectedly vacated by Francesco Modesto. Negotiations are said to be well advanced, with an official announcement potentially coming as early as tomorrow. The decision to appoint Bocchetti is attributed to Atalanta`s sporting director Tony D`Amico, who knew him well from their shared time at Hellas Verona. Bocchetti began his coaching career in Verona`s youth sector, and D`Amico reportedly valued his work and ability to develop young talents.
Bocchetti is currently participating in the UEFA Pro course at Coverciano and remains under contract with Monza, where he had a coaching spell last season. However, resolving his contract with the Brianza-based club, which runs until June 30, 2027, is not expected to pose any problems.
