Football executive Walter Sabatini, interviewed by the newspaper Il Mattino, shared his views on Serie A, specifically addressing the relegation battle still involving several teams. He described this season`s Serie A as “wonderful” across all objectives, including the fight against relegation which he predicts will be an “Armageddon” next Sunday. He stated, “We have been witnessing and continue to witness great football and a great Serie A season.”
The seasoned football expert then commented on the coach currently leading the league, Antonio Conte. Sabatini remarked, “Conte doesn`t need my comment. Napoli has already achieved a sporting miracle thanks to him, and as he rightly points out, the team has been at the top for a long time, and the achievements are even greater considering how they finished last year. If I were a Napoli player, I certainly wouldn`t feel at ease yet, but they have definitely achieved an objective of credibility and dignity. Of course, dignity doesn`t build a resume…”
Finally, he offered his thoughts on Conte`s future amid numerous rumors of his potential departure (mentioning Juventus among others). Sabatini commented, “I don`t know. If he wins, perhaps he will leave, and that would genuinely be a shame for Napoli. But it is difficult to leave this city. The love and affection you find in Naples are not easily found elsewhere.”
