Rome Prefect Giannini: «Derby at 8:45 PM? To Avoid Disruption. Regarding Lega Calcio’s Appeal to the TAR…»

Rome Prefect Lamberto Giannini spoke to Corriere della Sera about the decision to reschedule the capital’s derby match for Monday evening. He stated, «With my collaborators, during the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, we decided to move the derby to Monday evening at 8:45 PM to avoid the significant inconveniences it would have caused.»

Giannini elaborated on the reasons behind the decision, highlighting the potential for disruption to public order and safety. He emphasized that the committee’s primary objective was to ensure the well-being of citizens and minimize any negative impact on daily life in the city.

When asked about the Lega Calcio’s appeal to the TAR (Regional Administrative Court) regarding this decision, the Prefect commented, «We are aware of the appeal. We will evaluate it with our legal advisors and respond accordingly.» He expressed confidence in the committee’s decision-making process and the legality of their actions.

The relocation of the derby has been a point of contention, with the Lega Calcio reportedly seeking to have the match played on Sunday. However, the Prefect’s office has prioritized public safety and the smooth running of the city.
