Retegui Transfer to Saudi Arabia Nears Completion: The Details of Al Qadsiah’s Substantial Offer

Mateo Retegui, the forward currently plying his trade in Italy`s Serie A, appears poised for a major transfer. Following an unsuccessful attempt to secure Moise Kean, Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah has reportedly shifted its focus and made a decisive move for Retegui.

According to latest market reports, the operation is now considered very close to completion. Al Qadsiah had initially proposed a substantial annual salary of 15 million euros net for Retegui. Demonstrating serious intent, this offer was subsequently increased to a staggering 20 million euros per year. This represents an eight-fold increase compared to Retegui`s current remuneration at his club. Such a financial incentive has, understandably, led Retegui to express willingness for the move, potentially securing 80 million euros over the next four years, pending finalization of the agreement between the involved clubs.

From the club`s perspective, the situation is a negotiation of significant value. Initially, the Serie A club was reluctant to part with their primary offensive asset, even when presented with a first offer from Saudi Arabia reported to be around 53 million euros. However, given the player`s apparent openness to the transfer, discussions have progressed. It is understood that the Italian club`s valuation for the player was closer to 70 million euros to facilitate the transfer. Al Qadsiah responded by increasing their offer to a total package of 65 million euros, comprising a fixed fee plus performance-related bonuses. This revised figure is now considered sufficiently close to an agreement.

The final details are reportedly being settled. Barring any unexpected issues, sources indicate that the agreement is expected to be formally concluded by the end of the week, potentially as soon as Friday. Should the transfer proceed as anticipated, the Italian club will face the immediate task of identifying and securing a replacement for their outgoing striker, with initial indications pointing towards Lorenzo Lucca.
