ROME, April 22nd – Giovanni Malagò, president of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), has asked national sports federations, associated sports disciplines, and sports promotion bodies to suspend all sports events scheduled for Saturday, April 26th. This request follows the guidelines outlined in today`s Prime Ministerial Decree (Dpcm) and is made in observance of the funeral of Pope Francis.
Furthermore, the head of CONI reiterates the invitation to observe a minute of silence at sports events taking place throughout the week to honor the memory of the Pontiff.
