Prandelli: Missing Champions League is a ‘Drama’ for Juve

Former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli recently shared his views with Gazzetta on Juventus`s crucial situation and the race for a Champions League spot.

According to Prandelli, for Juventus to miss out on Champions League qualification would be an `economic drama,` especially as it was considered the minimum target for the season. While acknowledging the difficulty, he believes `They can still make it.` However, he also stated quite directly, `honestly, the team that deserves fourth place is Bologna.`

Looking at the current Juventus squad`s performance, Prandelli noted a couple of observations. He perceives `greater team unity,` suggesting the squad`s character is now more collective rather than solely relying on individual brilliance. He also highlighted the presence of `a core lineup of six or seven players who are consistently selected.`

Prandelli expanded on coaching philosophies, mentioning Thiago Motta`s approach and suggesting that sometimes `today we are overvaluing modernity at the expense of common sense.`

He drew a parallel with Claudio Ranieri`s successful methods, pointing out how Ranieri effectively `put players in their right roles` and `identified the two good dribblers,` emphasizing the importance of fundamental tactics. Regarding the upcoming match against Lazio, which could be decisive for Juventus, Prandelli believes the outcome `will only be decisive if Juve goes and wins. Otherwise, the fight remains open.` He added a comment on Lazio`s current form, noting they are `a bit less brilliant, the cups weigh,` possibly alluding to fatigue from European commitments.
