Pistocchi on Bologna-Juventus Refereeing: No Penalty, Juve Unlucky

Writing on his X account, Maurizio Pistocchi offered his assessment of referee Marco Doveri`s performance during the match between Bologna and Juventus. Pistocchi expressed the view that Doveri did not commit any significant errors.

Specifically addressing the incident involving Freuler and McKennie, Pistocchi argued that it did not warrant a penalty. He explained that the contact was initiated by the Bologna player, Freuler, who actively extended his left leg to impede McKennie`s progress. While calling it `NOT A PENALTY`, he did note that in the recent past, similar contacts have often been given as penalties, referencing a case with Dybala in an Empoli-Juve match.

Pistocchi also pointed out that Savona`s clear handball should have been spotted and flagged by the assistant referee, who was much closer to the play than Doveri was at the time of the cross.

In conclusion, despite acknowledging that Juventus did not play well and Bologna was the better side, Pistocchi maintained that Juve did not achieve the result unfairly. He added that Juventus was actually unlucky when Cambiaso`s goal was disallowed due to being marginally offside by just `5 centimeters`. Pistocchi ended by stating that this analysis represented his personal opinion.
