Antoine Arnault, the president of Paris FC, has openly shared his long-term aspiration to see Jürgen Klopp take the helm as the club’s head coach.
Arnault, who also serves as the CEO of Christian Dior SE and is one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, spoke on the RMC show ‘After Foot’ about his strong desire to have the former Liverpool success story at his club. «If we qualify for the Champions League, I would love to convince Jürgen Klopp to come and take over our team,» he stated.
Paris FC was promoted to Ligue 1 a year ago. The club is owned by the billionaire Arnault family, with Red Bull also holding shares. This connection also links Klopp to the club through his role as Global Head of Soccer for the Austrian beverage giant.
Given the financial power of the Parisian club, qualification for the Champions League in the foreseeable future is not an unrealistic dream. Arnault commented on Klopp, «Who doesn’t dream of having Jürgen Klopp, with his sunny disposition and his footballing genius? Sooner or later, we all dream of getting him.»
Jürgen Klopp Currently Under Long-Term Contract with Red Bull
Klopp stepped down from his role at Liverpool in the summer of 2024 to take a break. In early 2025, he was appointed as the Head of Soccer at Red Bull. Since then, there have been recurring rumors about a potential return to a coaching position, with links to clubs like Real Madrid and even the German national team.
However, he has consistently denied these rumors, emphasizing his lack of immediate desire to work as a manager again, although he hasn’t completely ruled it out for the future. Arnault also acknowledged this, saying, «He doesn’t want to return to a coaching position in the near future. But perhaps in three, four, five years.»
For now, Klopp is also working as a TV pundit for the World Cup on MagentaSport. His contract with Red Bull extends until the end of 2029.
Meanwhile, Paris FC is preparing for its second season in Ligue 1. In their first year back, the club secured a mid-table finish, ranking eleventh. A strong late-season surge was instrumental in this achievement. The team had come perilously close to the relegation zone in the spring before promotion-winning coach Stephane Gili was replaced after five winless games by former PSG coach Antoine Kombouare. This change had a significant impact, with Paris FC suffering only two defeats in their final twelve league matches, climbing four places in the standings.
