In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Paolo Condò discussed the situation of the Italian National Team. According to Condò, the primary objective for the Azzurri is clear: to build a team capable of winning the two March playoffs. One match appears easier on paper (though the previous encounter with North Macedonia serves as a reminder), while the other will be against a challenging opponent like Serbia or Poland. Condò believes this task is within the National Team`s reach, provided they abandon a detrimental mindset focused on the fear of a third consecutive missed qualification.
He also highlighted the importance of putting an end to what he calls these unpleasant `epidemics` of injuries or absences that frequently affect players just before national call-ups. To address this issue, Condò proposes a specific solution: “A measure that would help,” he states, “would be to strictly prohibit anyone who `skips national team duty` from playing the subsequent league match, effectively treating them as if they were suspended.”
