Paganini on Allegri-Napoli Links and Conte’s Juventus Interest

`Paganini

Journalist Paolo Paganini recently discussed current football affairs on TMW Radio`s `Maracanà` program.

Napoli-De Bruyne: What`s the truth?
“It`s confirmed he`s leaving City, and his agents have been in contact. However, Napoli cannot afford his salary demands, as it would also trigger wage adjustments for other players. While the idea is intriguing, the crucial point is that Napoli will have significant funds available this summer, potentially from selling Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen. I don`t believe De Bruyne is a priority for them at the moment.”

Given Napoli`s potential investment, could they compete in the Champions League? And would it benefit ADL (Aurelio De Laurentiis) to continue with Conte?
“Conte has a three-year contract, but we know Juventus remains his top choice if he leaves Napoli. However, Juve needs to secure Champions League qualification. Conte always arrives with specific transfer demands; if they aren`t met, he won`t join. After winning the Scudetto, fans expect something more. If Napoli qualifies for the Champions League, Conte will demand five high-profile signings. If ADL agrees, Conte stays; otherwise, he won`t. Napoli`s squad requires expansion and quality additions, necessitating investment.”

What about the possibility of Massimiliano Allegri emerging?
“Allegri and ADL have a very good relationship, as do Allegri and [Giuseppe] Marotta, especially considering Simone Inzaghi`s future. Allegri is certainly the frontrunner if Conte departs. ADL will likely try to meet Conte`s demands. However, Napoli faces a choice: either appoint a more conservative coach like Allegri or Pioli, or opt for a more radical approach with someone like Gasperini or De Zerbi. The current situation is at a crossroads, dependent on the upcoming meeting between Conte and ADL.”

Could Victor Osimhen remain at Napoli with a serious project?
“I doubt it,” Paganini stated, “partly because I believe they are targeting a different type of striker, possibly similar to [a player like] Kean.”
