Pacchioni: «Spalletti Ensures Project Planning, Vlahovic Renewal Would Undermine Initial Season Projects»

Football pundit Paolo Pacchioni recently shared his insights on various Serie A topics, offering his perspective on Juventus’ strategic moves and the performance of top Italian clubs.

Vlahovic Renewal and Spalletti’s Vision at Juventus

Addressing the renewed discussion around Dusan Vlahovic’s contract extension at Juventus, Pacchioni commented, «First, I’d say that Spalletti is a coach who guarantees a clear vision and long-term planning. While the immediate goal is Champions League qualification, the coach has had a positive impact at Juventus, and it would be right to continue with him even if they don’t secure a top-four finish. Regarding Vlahovic, his potential renewal contradicts the club’s initial plans for the season. There was a decision to look for alternatives like David or Openda. Yet, in the crucial moments of the draw against Sassuolo, neither of those proposed targets came on; instead, it was Milik and Vlahovic himself.»

Conte vs. Spalletti: The Right Choice for a Project

When asked about some fans’ desire for Antonio Conte’s return, Pacchioni stated, «I understand Conte left an indelible mark, but given his character, it’s rare for him to return to a club where he’s already been. In summary, Spalletti hasn’t performed miracles, but he took over a team in a complicated situation. He’s managed to improve their physical condition somewhat, though not drastically in terms of results. The crucial point is that if there’s a coach with whom you can truly build a project from the very start of the season, it’s Spalletti. Changing again would mean hitting the reset button on all the work done in recent months.»

Serie A Regrets: Napoli, Milan, and Inter’s Season Review

Pondering which team, Milan or Napoli, might have more regrets this season, especially given Inter’s recent dip in form, Pacchioni concluded, «Napoli is the team with the most reasons for regret because they had the potential to achieve much more, despite injuries playing a part. Milan, on the other hand, I believe have the points they deserve, perhaps even a bit more. How many times have the Rossoneri been on the verge of losing but didn’t, or won without truly deserving to? It can’t always go their way. Their draws against smaller teams, for example, weren’t the result of top-level performances but rather late goals. Paradoxically, the team that might end up with the most regrets of all is Inter, who are now at risk of succumbing to pressure. Their worst opponent now could simply be the ghosts of the past; even against Fiorentina, when they were 0-1 down, many already anticipated they would concede a draw.»
