Galatasaray Istanbul has been crowned Turkish champions for the fourth consecutive time, securing their 26th league title on the second-to-last matchday of the season. A hard-fought 4-2 victory against relegation-threatened Antalyaspor was enough to clinch the championship.
The Super Lig giants, who reached the Champions League Round of 16, overcame a strong challenge from Antalyaspor in a dramatic match. Nigerian star striker Victor Osimhen was the hero of the day, scoring a crucial brace in the 66th and 88th minutes to secure the win and the title.
Antalyaspor had taken the lead twice through Soner Dikmen (45+3, 62), but Galatasaray showed resilience. Mario Lemina (56) equalized once, before Osimhen’s decisive goals turned the game around. Former Bundesliga player Kaan Ayhan (90+5) added a final touch to the scoreline.
This championship marks a significant achievement for Galatasaray in their first season with players like Leroy Sané and Ilkay Gündogan. Sané, who joined from Bayern Munich last summer, contributed seven league goals during the season. Gündogan, the former Germany captain, also celebrated his first title with the club.
Both Sané and Gündogan were substituted at halftime, missing the dramatic second-half comeback. Following a disappointing 1-4 loss in the previous week, Galatasaray seized their second opportunity to secure the championship.
