Prominent Juventus supporter and pundit Francesco Oppini recently shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) regarding a list that ranked the wage bills of Champions League finalists over the past 10 years. The compilation sheds light on the financial context of teams reaching Europe`s premier club final.
According to the list Oppini referenced, Inter featured twice within the decade (in the 2022/2023 and 2024/2025 seasons), ranking 13th and 15th respectively out of 19 entries. Juventus, in contrast, appeared just once in the ranking, placing 14th in the 2016/2017 season.
Reacting to this list and the common football narratives surrounding financial disparities and “miraculous” runs, Oppini sharply criticized what he perceives as misleading discussions.
“What was that story about miracles and wage bills again? Stop telling such ridiculous stories. Especially considering the Juventus team from 2014/2015 (the one from the final exactly 10 years ago) isn`t even on that list,” he stated.
