Pirlo: We were afraid of Inter

Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo spoke to Sky Sports microphones after his team’s defeat against Inter.

“We had the wrong attitude from the beginning.”

“When we do not have the anger and determination to try to win the duels, game like these become difficult.”

“We were too passive and when you are not aggressive and you do not have this anger you go to these matches.”

“We were fearful, we were afraid of Inter’s attacking game and in our heads we only thought about the defensive phase.”

My worst night as a Juve coach?

“Yes, it’s a bad defeat because we weren’t expecting it and we couldn’t have had a worse match than this.”

“Now we have to raise our heads because we play a final on Wednesday.”

“In these games you have to put the same desire and the same anger as the others to be on the same level, then the qualities of the individuals come apart.”

“The agonistic enthusiasm in these matches must be balanced, we didn’t do it from the beginning and the result is this.”

“Our ambitions remain the same. Tonight we took a misstep against an important team, but in it can happen.”

“Too bad because we had a positive streak to go on, but what cannot happen is this attitude for a team like Juventus that had to come here with the ambition to propose their own game.”

“Instead we were too fearful and at the mercy of their plays, thinking little about making our own.”

“We were too slow to get the ball rolling and we did it mostly through the defenders rather than through the midfielders.”

“I take responsibility for this defeat.”

“It is the coach who gives the indications.”

“If the team did not do what we had tried it means that we did not understand what we had set up.”
