Pirlo: The next victory is always the most important one

Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo spoke in a press conference ahead of his team’s game against Sassuolo.

“It was an important victory in Milano, in an important moment, but if we don’t win tomorrow, it will be of little use.”

“The next victory is always the most important one. We need to always have the same desire no matter who our opponent is, then, in April, we will see where we will be in the standings.”

“Milan are still the team to beat because they’re at the top of the table. We have been winning for 9 years so it’s normal to have pressure on us. We take our responsibilities.”

“They’re an excellent team, they had the same group for a while now.”

“Their coach is also very good at constructing a style of play so we can’t let them play without pressure.”

“It will be a difficult game.”

“Demiral and Chiellini have both been doing great. Demiral can play from the beginning tomorrow.”

“Chiesa is okay, he had a hip problem against Milan and asked to be subbed out but he has already recovered.”

“Morata is doing better, tomorrow we will decide whether to call him up for the game or not.”

“Kulusevski is okay, I congratulated him on the way he came on against Milan. We will see if he can play from the beginning tomorrow.”

“Arthur took a bad knock before Christmas but he recovered and is on top condition again. He understands Football so he can play with anyone.”

The Covid-19 cases? “They affect us like they affect every other team but we can’t think about that.”

“I have 4 defenders available, plus Di Pardo who can play on the flank. I will choose between them.”

“I’m not surprised, I knew his qualities and that’s why I wanted him.”

“He is young, he still has a lot of room for improvement, he must get better game after game, with the Milan game being the starting point.”

“He trains very well and gives his all when he plays. I’m sorry for not giving him much continuity but he’s reliable and he will get a chance.”

The team?

“In the morning meeting we talked about what the Juve path should be, especially with the younger players.”

“They have to understand that without continuity, whatever they’ve done will be forgotten: that’s how it is at Juve.”

“We also need more mental strength. In the last 2 games, our heads were in the clouds after scoring, so I need more concentration from the boys.”
