Pirlo: The Champions League is a goal for us

Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo spoke in the pre-game press conference ahead of his team’s game against Porto.

“I expect a very complicated match, they are a team that defends well.”

“In the Champions League they have had clean sheets four or five times.”

“They reassemble Atletico Madrid a little: they’re compact, have a lot of patience and in the counterattack they are good, they have players of a very physical strength.”

“The Champions League is a particular competition, I have played it for many years, and the difference with the championship is high.”

“Everyone wants to win here, but it depends on how you are, the moment you face the teams, especially now that you come from many consecutive games.”

“It is important to arrive with a clear head, to be ready to face the 180 minutes.”

Is the Champions League our main goal?

“No, we start the season trying to win everything.”

“We have won the Super Cup, reached the Italian Cup final, we are in the Champions League and we are still fighting for the league: we don’t think about just one goal, we try to achieve as much as possible.”

“We are still in the running for all the goals and it is the most important thing.”

“Winning the Champions League is a goal for us, but it’s also a dream because everyone wants to win it.”

“The important thing is to believe that we are a team that can go all the way.”

“The Champions League always has a particular flavor.”

“There are those who have never played it, but when you reach the knockout rounds, you get to do anything with adrenaline.”

“I would like to be on the pitch to give a hand to the boys, but hey are much better than me and they know what they have to do.”

Injuries update?

“They are all called up, they will travel with us.”

Bonucci is not available, he had some problems today, while Ramsey is available.”

Dybala is traveling with us but is not ready to play yet.”

“He has to give us some goals when he returns.”

“This year he missed a lot of games and it weighs because his goals are missing.”

“Let’s hope he can be like a January signing for us, to give us the leap in quality.”

“He will be playing at home, so he will want to score, with that important adrenaline from a knockout match.”

“He will want to show who Cristiano Ronaldo is.”

“He’s is certainly not going through the best period, but we know him, we already knew that he goes these periods in which he is not very well physically.”

“He’s happy, he’s fine, he just has to score a goal because the adrenaline and energy of a goal can take away all the problems.”

“He is sensitive, he wants to do well, in these moments he may tend to throw himself down, but we believe in him, he’s a great player and will go back to his best.”
