Detroit Pistons (52-19) 113:110 Los Angeles Lakers (46-26)

The Lakers, arriving in Detroit with an impressive nine-game winning streak and a recently averted suspension for Luka Doncic, were widely considered favorites, especially as the Pistons were without their key player, Cade Cunningham. However, they underestimated Daniss Jenkins. The undrafted guard, who only secured a full contract in early February, delivered a sensational performance with a career-high 30 points, including six crucial points in the final 34 seconds, securing a surprising victory for the Pistons. Doncic (32 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists) missed a potential equalizer in the closing seconds, as Jalen Duren effectively defended him, forcing a desperate shot. Jenkins not only shone in scoring (11/18 FG, 4/5 3FG) but also dished out 8 assists, while Duren added 20 points and 11 rebounds. LeBron James, after a scoreless first half, still managed 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jenkins humbly stated after the game: «I just wanted to do my job. My role was to drive to the basket. They gave me the shot, and I took it with confidence.» Although the Lakers had erased a 16-point deficit and put the Pistons under pressure in the final moments, Jenkins took charge.

Orlando Magic (38-33) 126:128 Indiana Pacers (16-56)

A true disaster unfolded for the Orlando Magic. The Indiana Pacers, arriving with a record-setting 16-game losing streak and the reputation of a «tanking team,» were expected to be an easy opponent. However, the Pacers had other plans, despite an outstanding performance from Paolo Banchero (season-high 39 points) and support from Tristan da Silva (21 points). Indiana built a twelve-point lead deep into the final quarter before Orlando responded with a 9-0 run to get back into the game. The intense duel between Banchero and Pascal Siakam (37 points) culminated when Siakam delivered a decisive block in the final second, preventing Banchero’s potential equalizer and securing the win for the Pacers. Magic coach Jamahl Mosley explained the final play: «We wanted to get P [Paolo Banchero] the ball for a quick drive to the basket. But they defended it well.» He praised Banchero for his aggressiveness, although he believed a foul might have been warranted. Jarace Walker (20 points) and Aaron Nesmith (19 points) also contributed to the victory, as did Andrew Nembhard, whose three-pointer provided the decisive points, complemented by 14 assists and 7 rebounds. Moritz Wagner was again a DNP for Orlando.

Miami Heat (38-34) 111:136 San Antonio Spurs (54-18)

The San Antonio Spurs celebrate their first Division title since 2017—nine years later, they stand atop the Southwest once again, thanks to a convincing victory over the struggling Miami Heat. Victor Wembanyama demonstrated his exceptional abilities once more with 26 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 blocks in just 26 minutes. Only his modest three-point shooting (1/7) prevented an even more dominant performance. Keldon Johnson and Dylan Harper each contributed 21 points off the bench, while Stephon Castle followed closely with 19 points. The game in Miami was quickly decided, as the Heat lost their fifth consecutive game and conceded defeat before the fourth quarter. Miami’s top scorers were Norman Powell (21 points), Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro, each with 18 points.

Philadelphia 76ers (39-33) 103:123 Oklahoma City Thunder (57-15)

The game in Philadelphia was entirely dominated by the reigning champions from Oklahoma City and two notable returnees. Jalen Williams made his comeback for the Thunder after a 16-game injury layoff, immediately showcasing his class with 18 points and 6 assists in just 20 minutes. Also in focus was Jared McCain, the Sixers’ first-round pick from two years prior, who played against Philly for the first time. With two early three-pointers and a total of 13 points, he helped OKC build an unassailable lead against the depleted hosts in the first half. McCain later expressed gratitude towards his former team: «There are so many people in this organization who have deeply touched me and brought a smile to my face. For that, I am just super grateful.» Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continued his impressive 20-point streak, scoring 22 points in 29 minutes, complemented by 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks. Isaiah Hartenstein also played a significant role in their twelfth consecutive victory with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. For the 76ers, rookie VJ Edgecombe shined in the absence of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George, hitting seven three-pointers for 35 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, but there was a significant gap behind him.

Chicago Bulls (29-42) 132:124 Houston Rockets (43-28)

Rockets coach Ime Udoka was visibly frustrated after the game, not only with the referees, whose «soft» calls led to his ejection, but primarily with his team. The Rockets completely slept through the first quarter, falling behind early with a 21:41 deficit. Udoka fumed: «We respected neither the game nor the opponent. This is the NBA, and if you play like that, you’ll suffer ugly losses.» This scenario is unfortunately familiar for Houston: it was their twelfth loss against a team with a negative record, a negative record among winning-record teams. Consequently, the Rockets slipped from fourth to sixth place in the West. Although Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengün brought the Rockets back into the game after the poor start, even building a 112:108 lead, a thrilling back-and-forth ensued, which Matas Buzelis decided for the hosts with a clutch layup. Durant (40 points, 5/10 three-pointers), Sengün (33 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists), and Amen Thompson (23 points) were the standout players for the visitors. For the Bulls, Collin Sexton (25 points), Buzelis (23 points), and Josh Giddey (15 points, 13 assists) led eight players in double-digit scoring, with Chicago hitting half of its 38 three-pointers.

Atlanta Hawks (40-32) 146:107 Memphis Grizzlies (24-47)

Nickeil Alexander-Walker led the Atlanta Hawks to a one-sided victory with 26 points, 6 assists, and a spectacular dunk. Despite the absence of All-Star Jalen Johnson, the Hawks held a significant lead by halftime and had decisively won the game with a 41-point advantage before the final quarter. A total of eight Hawks scored in double digits, greatly aided by 25 made three-pointers out of 54 attempts. The top scorer for the heavily depleted Grizzlies was GG Jackson with 26 points. While Memphis has lost eleven of their last twelve games, Atlanta is now aiming for a direct playoff spot after a mixed season.

Dallas Mavericks (23-49) 131:137 Golden State Warriors (34-38) OT

The game in Dallas offered almost 52 minutes of pure tension until a severe injury to Moses Moody abruptly changed the atmosphere in the arena. The Warriors’ guard, who had just returned from a ten-game injury layoff, sprinted alone to the basket in overtime after a steal. He was poised to cap a strong 23-point performance with a dunk, securing a much-needed road victory for the Warriors. However, his left leg buckled on the jump, and he lay on the court in pain under the basket. The Mavericks tried in vain to turn the game around again. When the ball finally went out of bounds and everyone on the court realized Moody was seriously injured, the tension evaporated. Dallas failed to score another point, leading to their second overtime loss and twelfth consecutive home defeat – an unfortunate new record low. Cooper Flagg led Dallas with 32 points and 9 assists but also committed 7 turnovers. Daniel Gafford contributed 20 points and 7 rebounds. For the visitors, alongside Moody, Kristaps Porzingis with 22 points and Brandin Podziemski (20 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists) also had strong performances.

Los Angeles Clippers (36-36) 129:96 Milwaukee Bucks (29-42)

Kawhi Leonard scored 28 points and grabbed 3 steals in less than 25 minutes, giving the Clippers such a commanding lead that he could watch the fourth quarter from the bench. The Clippers are now back at a .500 record, keeping their Western Conference play-in competitors at bay. Brook Lopez shined with 19 points (5/6 three-pointers) and 2 blocks, while Darius Garland’s 15 points and 6 assists posed significant problems for the Bucks’ defense. For the visitors, Gary Trent Jr. with 20 points and AJ Green with 15 points offered the most resistance, hitting a combined 10 out of 15 long-range attempts.

Utah Jazz (21-51) 127:143 Toronto Raptors (40-31)

Top rookie Ace Bailey made NBA history with his third consecutive 25+ point game. Only LeBron James, Cooper Flagg, Carmelo Anthony, and Devin Booker were younger than the Jazz’s lottery pick when they achieved this feat. Despite Bailey’s 37 points (7/10 three-pointers), Utah lost the game, which did not jeopardize their «tanking» position. The Toronto Raptors solidified their path to direct playoff berths with their victory. Furthermore, former No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz celebrated his return to the court. For the visitors, a quartet of players each scored at least 20 points, led by R.J. Barrett with 27 points. Fultz collected 2 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals in 16 minutes off the bench, but also had 3 turnovers – much seems unchanged for the former prodigy.

Portland Trail Blazers (36-37) 134:99 Brooklyn Nets (17-55)

A «feel-good game» for the Trail Blazers, who celebrated their highest win of the season against the seemingly «unwilling-to-win» Nets. Toumani Camara shined with career-highs in three-pointers (9/11) and points (35) – and thus was more successful from long-range by himself than the entire visiting team (8/29 three-pointers). For Brooklyn, Tyson Etienne was the top scorer with 18 points off the bench.
