Miangue Reveals Juventus Interest in De Cuyper

Cercle Brugge defender Senna Miangue, who previously played in Serie A for Inter and Cagliari, has shed light on the transfer market by speaking about his teammate, Maxim De Cuyper. Miangue specifically mentioned that Juventus also showed interest in the player, quoting, “I know Juve also wanted him.”

In an interview with Tuttosport, Miangue elaborated on De Cuyper`s attributes: “He possesses an excellent physical frame combined with good technical ability. He`s proficient at crossing and provides significant impetus down the left flank. His profile is attracting attention, and I`m not surprised by the current discussions. While perhaps less explosive with the ball at his feet than someone like Theo [Hernandez], he is more conscientious in his defensive duties. He certainly has the potential to perform well in Milan.”

It has been suggested that De Cuyper might have been considered by Juventus as a potential alternative, particularly in scenarios involving players like Andrea Cambiaso, who has been linked with a move towards Manchester City. Adding another layer to the market speculation, Cambiaso himself has reportedly emerged as a possible target for AC Milan for the upcoming season, especially if Theo Hernandez were to depart the club.

Maxim De Cuyper is a product of the Club Brugge academy, which he joined in 2008. After progressing through the youth ranks, he made his senior debut in February 2020, starting in a Europa League fixture against Manchester United. He spent the remainder of that season with the Brugge youth setup, distinguishing himself as a high-performing left-back. The 2021-2022 season saw him loaned to KVC Westerlo, where he had a highly successful spell, playing regularly and scoring an impressive nine goals in 39 appearances – a remarkable return for a defender.

The year 2023 marked his most productive season yet for Brugge, featuring in 37 matches, contributing 3 goals, and providing 10 assists, solidifying his status as a regular starter. His strong form led to a contract extension until 2028. Recognized as a key figure for his Belgian team, he was also included in the national squad for the recent European Championship, although he did not feature in any games during the tournament.
