Messi Goal Becomes Artwork, Auctioned at Christie’s

Lionel Messi is set to select his most cherished goal, which artist Refik Anadol will then transform into a unique digital artwork. This piece will be auctioned at Christie`s on June 11th, with proceeds dedicated to charity through the collaboration of the Inter Miami Foundation and UNICEF.

The charitable initiative, titled `A Goal in Life`, is being launched with a presentation video featuring narration by Morgan Freeman. The specific goal chosen by Messi will be revealed globally on the official social media channels of the Inter Miami CF Foundation on May 22nd. It will be immortalized through this artistic collaboration with Refik Anadol. The final artwork, officially unveiled in New York by the auction house Christie`s on June 11th, will be signed by both Messi and Anadol.

Throughout his career, Lionel Messi has scored over 800 goals, including a recent one against Minnesota in MLS while playing for Inter Miami. Many of his goals represent legendary moments and have helped secure major titles. Funds raised from the auction will be dedicated to charitable causes, specifically supporting access to quality education programs for children in five countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Choosing just one goal is very difficult,” stated Leo Messi. “Each one is special in its own way, and some are truly important or evoke incredible memories. But it`s worth selecting one as a favorite to make this unique project possible.”

“It`s an extraordinary honor to join forces with Leo Messi, one of the greatest athletes of our time, for a project that supports non-profit organizations, including UNICEF, and that merges the emotional legacy of sport with the future of art,” commented Refik Anadol.

“Education is the fuel for dreams,” added Jorge Mas, Managing Owner of Inter Miami CF. “That`s why Inter Miami is committed to supporting programs that ensure access to education for everyone.”

The project `A Goal in Life`, led by the Inter Miami CF Foundation, invited Leo Messi and Refik Anadol to participate. It is under the creative direction of Xavier Roca, with artistic curation by Ximena Caminos. The auction is scheduled to close on July 25th at Christie`s in New York.
